The Chemistry of Vetigel

Introduction

Vetigel is a cutting edge medical technology that will revolutionize the way we treat wounds in the coming future. What it is, is a polymer based gel that rapidly stops blood loss both internal and externally. Vetigel works by creating a combo bond, a chemical bond to the skin cells (that's where the sodium alginate comes into play). The second bond is created by a specially crafted combination of polymers that creates a mechanical bond that forms to the entire wound! The combination of the two creates a groundbreaking way to stop even the most severe blood loss in a max of 15 sec. Vetigel is paving the way to far more safe world so it's truly no surprise that vetigel has taken the world by storm and a massive demand already exists with it still a year away from FDA approval. Vetigel offers a cheap ( 30$, and expected to drop once it hits market) and highly effective means to fight wounds of all shapes and sizes making it a massive invention that will greatly benefit society for years to come!

Composition of ...

    • Sodium alginate [ (C6H8O6)n] (main hydrophilic)
    • hydrophilic polymers -polar or charged functional groups, making them soluble in water.
    • hydrophobic polymers-based on chemical class and monomer function.
  • Poly (N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-glucosamine) complex structure of fibrous polysaccharide chitin [ polysaccharide made of β‐1,4‐linked anhydro‐2‐acetamido‐2‐deoxy‐d‐glucose (GlcNAc)] (main hydrostatic)

Main Chemicals, Compounds, Components

    • Poly (N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-glucosamine) complex structure of fibrous polysaccharide chitin [ polysaccharide made of β‐1,4‐linked anhydro‐2‐acetamido‐2‐deoxy‐d‐glucose (GlcNAc)]
      • is a type of polymer that is similar in structure to that of the plant cell wall making it the perfect partner for sodium alginate
    • Sodium alginate [ (C6H8O6)n]
    • a form of black algae that focuses on the cell wall allowing to bond perfectly with the human skin cell as well as the other polymers.

Chemistry's Role

Vetigel has a massive chemical background making it a prime host for an in depth look into its chemistry. The first and most important being the polymers ability to stop bleeding this occurs through a two tear process the first being a chemical seal. This is formed when the polymer is first created in particular the properties that sodium alginate holds. The black algae has cell walls that rapidly bond with the human skin cells allowing the skin cells to take the fragmented black algae and through a similar process that stem cells are activated, sodium alginate creates a new layer of tissue that will merge with the skin cells. The second seal is a mechanical seal that forms after the chemical one because the bonding is happening at a cell level it creates a pressurized environment for the wound to heal and making it impossible for bacteria to enter the fresh wound. without the chemical bond vetigel would be no better than a bandaid to a bullet wound.

Background Research

The fascinating thing with vetigel is its potential do not only do so much good but to be used by everyone currently Vetigel is being approved by the FDA and its founder firmly believe in decreasing its cost to be implemented on all fronts from a battlefield med kit to a household item in the status quo vetigel is being used on animals for a mere 30$ a box and it can be used both internally and externally. vetigel is that sci-fi invention taken straight out of a movie and that's why it e=is so great it truly is a glimpse into the future and that's why vetigel is so important beyond saving millions and millions of lives the product will revolutionize the way we conduct our daily lives
